Why did you become an aesthetician?
I became an aesthetician after I realized college was not for me. I was majoring in elementary education and after a while realized that was not what I wanted to do. I sat down at dinner with my mom, discussing my options and she mentioned becoming an aesthetician. I immediately realized I would love that. Growing up I was always into skin care. Helping my friends try and figure out how to clear their skin was always a hobby of mine. I have always been interested in how certain skin conditions form on the skin. So I enrolled in school and the rest is history!
How did you end up at Arabella?
The way I ended up at Arabella was through my best friend and roommate in college. I had just graduated from school and was having no luck job searching and my friends knew all about it. So my friend is a KD at the University of Tennessee and Erica and Claire had talked to her sorority as a group. So I was dropping my friend off at class one day and she says, “oh, by the way, a medical spa called Arabella came and talked to us and mentioned hiring an aesthetician soon. The girls seem so nice, you would love it.” I went there the next morning and handed in my resume. After a long few months and a lot of interviewing they offered me the job!
What is it like working at Arabella?
Working at Arabella is amazing. Coming out of esthetics school is really scary because you want to end up at a good salon where everyone gets along. Arabella is more than that. The first day I walked in the door and handed in my resume I felt so welcomed and left with a smile from ear to ear. I called my mom and told her this is where I wanted to work. Erica, Claire, Rachel, and Lauren are so nice and beyond welcoming. Working here doesn’t feel like work, it feels like I’m going to hang out with my friends, while getting to pamper the best clients. It is a new experience everyday and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
What do you like to do when you are not at Arabella?
When I am not at Arabella I am going to concerts or hanging out with my friends and family. I am a huge country music fan and wherever an artist is, I am there too. I go to every concert with my mom because together we are good luck charms. We somehow ended up in the front row of a Garth Brooks concert and I held hands with him. We always have standing room tickets because we love to dance and sing with the artist. I have a Hardy concert coming up soon and I plan on spending the night outside the arena so I can get front row…maybe that’s a little crazy but Hardy is my favorite ever. I also have 3 dogs that I love taking for walks and to any body of water. It is a battle to get them in the water but it’s so fun to watch them play.
What do you wish you had known about skincare when you were younger?
When I was younger I wish I knew more about sunscreen and skin protection. My parents would apply sunscreen on me but as I got older I stopped wearing it because I wanted to be tan. I never applied sunscreen or exfoliated, which are two of the most important things. I didn’t want to exfoliate because I didn’t want my tan to come off. I have never been so wrong because all of that dead skin building up on my face from not exfoliating and no sunscreen made me look so dull. Once I started doing that everything on my face just started piecing together, and I was a glowing goddess. Wearing sunscreen keeps you young!
What do you love most about Arabella?
What I love most about Arabella is the people and atmosphere. Both the clients and my coworkers are the most amazing people. The atmosphere is very giving and warming. If I wasn’t a client or worker here, I would honestly just want to come and sit in the lobby and talk to everyone. Everyone here is so fun and easy to talk to. I leave every day happier because everyone is so sweet and showers me with compliments. It’s kind of like a therapy session in a way because everyone is so open and honest. I love everything about Arabella!
